I like LEGO, but I am not a freak.

Allright, I am going to come right out and say it. I have a large amount of LEGO. About 50 thousand pieces. Now, by most peoples standards that is absolutely rediculous amount. However, by the LEGO fan communitys standards, thats decent, but not impressive.
So You will understand the seriousness of my words when I say that the image you are looking at above is that of a very sick individual. It is not even so much the size of the collection that is disturbing. It is the fact that those boxes are un-opened. un-played with. It is quite honestly, a borderline crime. As a fellow AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) puts it: “The LEGO can’t breath!”
Compare his collection with that of another AFOL whos pieces are similar in number:

Now you may be saying “Whats the difference? Both these guys look sick to me!” Well your wrong. Notice how sets are out of the boxes, built, and sitting on nice shelves for everyone to see. Notice that there are large bins of sorted LEGO all ready to be used, notice the large table used for building, and the white paper backdrop for photographing creations. This, my friends, is the den of someone who understands what LEGO is for. It’s for playing with, for building and being creative with, for showing off and inspiring others with. It is NOT for locking away in your attaic, never to be enjoyed, never to be set free and allowed to breath and mingle with its fellow bricks from…good lord, I am a freak.
Here is more pics of the attaic vault. And here are more pics of the Lego Room. My apoligise to Adrian for using him as an example.

At least you can admit you have a problem.
You’ve got a looong road ahead of ya, Matt. Hopefully its paved with legos to keep you entertained.
lets just hope they dont come out with a rocket shaped train made out of legos that you can put in your salt water tank while you fly your remote control air plane! Lord help me!
Oh goodness… that guy is Sick !! But SICK does any justice to that !! I really want to shoot myself, so much that I desire from that guy’s collection catching dust ! Oh my !
Matt, as you said, in (y)our community, this is a average collection. You are not sick. There are A LOT OF SICK FREAKS in this world.
Go to http://www.google.com and type in:
-animal
-kid
-toys
Just browse through the hits and you will find A LOT OF SICK FREAKS there.
And if you got the stomach,
try real sick words on google like:
-poo
-blood
-pain
etc…
Yes, LEGO is a toy many think is for little kids, but frankly I think this world would be a lot better if we had a hobby like this.
Keep up the good work! (A DAMN OPEN THOSE BOXES, LEGO HAS TO BREATH!!!)
fellow AFOL,

I do not wish to offend anyone in anyway about the size or state of their LEGO collection in comparison to mine. I wish I had that many bricks. My post is mostly there in jest, but it is interesting how all hobbies, be it LEGO or poo, have a certain amount of obsession (healthy or not) involved with them.
Its a topic that probibly deserves further discussion, but I will hold off on that for now.
thanks for your comments!
