None will watch the Watchmen.

Here is a new featurette for the ill-fated Watchmen film. I wonder if the cries of lament of millions of fans around the world will reach the ears of the Fox corporation. Perhaps if one day we all join hands and sing a song of love, not hate, perhaps then the Fox exec’s black hearts may just grow three sizes on that day.

What the judge did, in a legal sense, was the correct thing. What I hope we’ll find out in trial is whether or not Fox contacted Warner during production. If they failed to do so, this is no different than holding a patent and allowing someone to spend the money to develop the same thing and then popping out of the woodwork at the last minute. If Fox completely shuts this release down, they’re going to have a lot of PR problems from rabid fans who want to see it. Perhaps they just want a payoff. I hope they just want a payoff.
My biggest issue here is that one can buy the rights to a film adaptation and then sit on them for 20 years. That’s wrong and it shouldn’t be permitted in copyright law either.
The thing about it was that it was absolutely NO SECRET that WB was making a Watchmen film. If your in the industry, you know exactly what the big studios are doing exactly when they are doing it. I think fox is looking for money, and I think they know this film is going to be huge. I think we will see it this year for sure. But that doesn’t mean that Fox doesn’t suck.
