The Adding Machine
Jan 10th, 2007 by Matt

Well, I am putting my short film on hold once again…but this time I have a very good reason for it.
I have been asked to help out on The Adding Machine. a unique production that will merge the talents of students, faculty, and staff from the Department of Theatre Arts and the Multimedia Program at Bradley University with students, faculty, and staff from the University of Waterloo (Canada), the University of Central Florida (USA), and Cumbria Institute of the Arts (UK).
Written by Nobel Prize winning author Elmer Rice in 1923, The Adding Machine is a funny and slightly nightmarish look at advancing technology and its effect on human relationships. The play chronicles the life of Zero, a hapless cog spinning aimlessly in the corporate world, who, after 25 years of service, is replaced by a machine.
The image above is first bit of concept art I have produced for the show. A kind of organic and gothic mausoleum. Eventually this will be created in 3D with live action elements composited into the scene.
More to come soon!
