It was the greatest. Pixar has outdone themselves. It was an amazing story told by brilliant storytellers, not to mention a technical masterpiece. The fact that the animators were able to portray the subtlest emotions with a very inexpressive object like a robot shows their expertise. I also loved how the camera was used throughout the movie. The depth of field and focus, not to mention the simulated hand held shots, brought a whole new level of realism to the film. I loved it and getting up for work at 8:00am after the midnight showing was totally worth it. I would see it again and again and I recommend it to moviegoers of all ages. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, then you’ll laugh some more. Two thumbs up (I might have just infringed on Ebert’s IP rights).
p.s. The animated short ‘Presto!’ at the beginning of the film was worth the $8.00 itself. Amazing design work, hilarious story, and well executed animation! Another two thumbs up!
Absolutely. This movie showed intimidating expertise in every element of story telling. Despite main character’s static structure of wires and metal, Pixar was able to create one of the most emotionally engaging characters ever created. The camera work was unlike anything I have ever seen in an animated film The timing was perfectly placed, down to the exact frame. There is so much depth in the mastery of this movie, which makes me want to see it repeatedly.
Wall•E was amazing. It wasn’t just an amazing animated feature as one comes to expect from Pixar, it is as well done as almost any feature I’ve seen. It goes without saying that Pixar always creates some of the most amazing characters ever, but this time I think they’ve truly outdone themselves.
I really enjoyed every bit of the film, from the subtle nods to past films to the not so subtle nod to apple.
Some of the cinematography in it was more than I had expected from an animated feature. The use of depth of field was really enjoyable.
You’re going to love it when you see it.
I’d say that this is the Pixar film that really does deserve a “Best Feature” Oscar nomination.
Also, I forgot to mention that it has some of the best social commentary on the future humanity is facing due to pollution and general laziness. I really appreciated such blatant social commentary in a “kids” movie.
Wall•E was pretty much amazing. Pixar has really come a long way since the beginning. They took an emotional-less object, such as a robot, and created it so that you could actually feel how the robots were feeling through the use of their eyes, sounds and motions. The depth of field in the movie was unbelievable! It was not what I had expected at all, and I was blown away by it! I went and saw it again after the midnight showing, and there were actually kids there that time, and they enjoyed it as well- They were laughing and cheering on with the film. The short at the beginning was also VERY well done. The timing, the animation, the music.. everything Pixar did went well together. It was so worth my money, and I plan on seeing it several more times before it leaves theatres.
Awesome- my kids were entranced the whole film. I absolutely loved it. The characters were lovable and halarious. I was very impressed by how the robots were able to convey so much emotion so simply. Great story. Great film.
I thought it sucked big time. Pixar shows off way to much, can’t they at least bring the level down a bit. Come on! give the other studios a chance.
Seriously Wall-E by far has set the level way to high and I don’t see anyone touching it. I just hope Pixar can meet that level again and again. Pixar is the Tiger Woods of animation.
I thought it was good. Cute and loveable, if a little ham-handed with the message. Especially ironic: at our theater, they handed out those cheap rubber wristwatches to the kiddies. Those’ll be broken and in the trash in a matter of hours, great idea Pixar.
My boyfriend and I went to see it. We both loved it so much, and I could not stop squealing. I love the underlaying meaning. And, I want my own Wall-e so much.
One of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Overall, it has a very sad feel to it. It also is filled with social comments / warnings such as pollution, gluttony / lethargy, getting back in touch with nature, and the need for love. The animator(s) did an amazing job and Wall-e is the cutest thing on two wheels.
